Zari weaving in gold & silver has been an age-old tradition in India.There are two basic categories of Brocades - Brocades with pure silk or silk & cotton blends and Zari brocades with gold and silver threads.The quality of silk is the most critical criteria in Zari weaving. Silk allows lovely weaves, is durable, fine and smooth. Raw silk goes through an elaborate treatment for brocades - this task entails great care to ensure that the silk fibers do not weaken or get damaged. Color synchronization plays a vital part in brocade weaving.
